El Portal de Antecedentes Penales Nacionales facilita información útil acerca de los antecedentes penales, las unidades de antecedentes penales de las Oficinas del Fiscal del Tribunal de Primera Instancia nacionales y el Departamento Independiente de Antecedentes Penales, que es parte de los servicios centrales del Ministerio de Justicia, así como el procedimiento y método para obtener copias de los antecedentes penales.
Mediante el Portal de Antecedentes Penales Nacionales, los ciudadanos y organismos públicos pueden acceder al formulario de solicitud en línea para pedir una copia de unos antecedentes penales, pueden presentar ese formulario de solicitud en línea y si se trata de un usuario autenticado, también pueden recibir una copia de los antecedentes penales en línea.
